Communication & Media Cell; Washington DC, 17th Sep 2017; World Muhajir Congress held a large demonstration in front of White House in the USA capital Washington D.C. to support President Trump’s recent policy on South Asia as well as to show solidarity with the victims of 9/11 and global terrorism. The demonstration was attended by leaders and activists of different political and ethnic groups from South Asia including Muhajirs, Balochs, Afghans and Indians.
Participants of the rally called for elimination of terror sanctuaries in Pakistan. They held banners and placards highlighting Pakistan’s role in promoting terrorism demanding the US Administration to declare Pakistan as ‘a state sponsoring terrorism.”
The participants of demonstration special paid tribute to the victims of 9/11 and fallen heroes who gave their lives fighting terrorism in Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and other impacted nations. “We stand today in compassion with the people and government of the United States at a time when the USA and the rest of the world is facing the menace of ruthless religious extremism and terrorism. We also express our deep sympathies with the families of victims who lost their loved ones in 9/11 terror attacks and other acts of terrorism around the globe’ speakers at the rally said in a joint statement.
Participants at the demonstration unanimously endorsed President Trump’s recent policy in relation to South Asia that has pledged to fight against all forms of terrorism and bring stability in South Asia. They said that President Trump’s loud and clear message to Government of Pakistan and its military establishment to cease forthwith their support for terror outfits and groups is widely welcomed by the free world. They further said that ‘we collectively extend our support to US Administration in its efforts to eliminate terror safe havens on Pakistani soil’.
The leaders representing different political and ethnic groups expressed grave concern over Pakistan’s stance to use terror as a foreign policy tool. They further said that masterminds of 9/11 attack on US found refuge in Pakistan and were either killed or apprehended on Pakistani soil. Afghan and Indian leaders were of the view that Pakistan Army and ISI are actively using home-grown terror groups to achieve “strategic depth” in the region as well as to destabilize both India and Afghanistan.
The activists from South Asia urged the US and the rest of the international community to cut off all military aid to Pakistan and declare the country as a ‘state sponsoring terrorism.’ The groups in the demonstration vowed to work together in future for peace, security and stability in the region.
World Muhajir Congress highlighted and condemned the state terrorism and atrocities including genocide, enforced disappearances, extra judicial killings and victimization of Muhajir and Baloch Nation committed by Pakistan Army and its notorious Intelligence agencies. Demonstration demanded immediate cease of such gross violations of human rights in Pakistan against all ethnic groups and religious minorities.
World Muhajir Congress is a human rights, political rights and advocacy organization for Muhajirs based in Pakistan, mainly in the Southern province of Sindh. WMC is raising awareness against racial discrimination, injustice, inequality and genocide against Muhajir Nation in Pakistan. More than 22,000 Muhajirs have been extra judicially killed in Pakistani Army and ISI led operations in Karachi since 1992.
